When the design takes over the front

T-shirts don’t do much to hide what they’re about, which is a strength when the print is the point. Big characters, logos and gaming symbols get plenty of room, while simpler graphics can keep things more understated. Gaming is well represented: Minecraft clothing uses the angular block aesthetic, and Super Mario clothing brings in colours and characters from the Mushroom Kingdom.

Other universes take the garment in completely different visual directions. Pokémon clothing can feature bright characters and Poké Ball imagery, while Spider-Man clothing draws on the mask, web and superhero contrasts. Film and TV designs, meanwhile, may focus more on logos or characters. The same T-shirt shape becomes a canvas for very different universes.

A lightweight garment that lets the graphics do the work

The simple construction means fewer elements competing with the design. A large front print gets the spotlight, while smaller emblems can make the T-shirt more understated. It’s a different kind of product from pyjamas with repeating patterns or a sweatshirt whose heavier fabric and hood give it more visual weight.

The T-shirt also works well as a layer under kids' sweatshirts, so the same interest can show in different ways throughout the year. In kids' clothing, the same gaming, superhero and character designs take on very different looks across pyjamas, sweatshirts and other garments.
