Tetris builds its entire identity around falling blocks, clean shapes and an idea that needs neither characters nor a long story. The colours and tetrominoes are enough to make the game reference clear.
As a deck of cards, that geometric look moves into a completely different game format. The cards make Tetris something physical to bring out around the table, while the block shapes keep their connection to the original game. Alexey Pajitnov created the game in Moscow in 1984, and the blocks have been falling ever since.
